Porter Bento Box

I was drawn to purchase this box for several reasons. First, is that it is like the other big name brand bentos but the compartments are bigger, which is a huge hit for my sauce loving kiddo. Second, I loved that we could get coordinated sets so that the porter bento container, lunch box, backpack, cup and snack pouches all matched making it much easier to locate missing items when they get left somewhere in the school, as is often the case when you are dealing with young kids. Third, I felt that the price was reasonable and I loved that the rubber came off to clean under it. However that's where the love, unfortunately, came to an end. All was well for the first 3 days of school but on day 4 my kiddo came home and the latch was broken on the container and he was devastated. I contacted customer service who was amazing and immediately sent us a new one, we were ready to rock and roll again......for about two more months, once again my little one came home with a broken latch. At this point we were both frustrated and decided to explore other brands, but we hope that changes might be made to the design so we can give it a try in the future.

We got these at the beginning of the school year for both of my girls. They were really great and worked wonderful. We took extra care to hand wash all the pieces. About three weeks in one of the handles broke off at school, customer service was REALLY good and send a replacement almost immediately. In January, the other one broke, but I figured it was too late for a replacement so did not reach out. Now in April, one has grown mold on the silicone piece that comes off the top. I’ve always taken very good care of them, but I think they are a one school year purchase. So, they were great while they lasted!

This is an update on the bento 6 months in. My daughter 7 came up to me and screamed it’s ugly! I’m going to cover it with stickers! It’s all wore down!! See picture. Normal school wear and tear. We stick the insert in the DW sometimes but not the outside box.

This bento box is super cute. I will say that it is kind of heavy and doesn’t have the space for a full sandwich. I have to cut the bread and finagle to get it to fit, other than that it’s quite functional with several little compartments for fruit, veggies, snacks, etc.
