For the Moms in the Thick of Winter: Things That Helped Us Feel Human Again
Winter days feel shorter. And sometimes, the schedules feel heavier. The car seems to stay messy no matter how many times you clean it. Someone always needs something: a snack, a ride, a coat you swear you just washed. And somehow, even when you’re doing everything, it can feel like you need to be doing so much more.
We’ve been there too. We know about the long weeks where it feels like you’re just moving from one obligation to the next, counting down to spring, wondering why you feel so tired even when you’re doing “all the right things.”
Let's be clear, though, this isn’t advice. This is just some small things we've noticed that have helped us feel human again when winter felt heavy and we all waited for spring to arrive once again.
Imperfect is actually perfectly ok.
Not every meal needs to be balanced. Not every day needs to be productive. Not every room needs to be clean before bedtime. Some nights, “good enough” really is good enough. And that’s okay.
Getting outside lifted our spirits, even when we didn’t feel like it.
We're not talking about a workout. Not a walk with a goal. Not something else to do. We're talking about just standing outside for a minute. Breathing cold air. Letting the sun hit our face for a few seconds.
It sounds small, but it helped more than we expected.
Drinking more water than we thought we needed.
It sounds almost too simple, but winter dehydration is real — and it sneaks up fast. The dry, cold air can pull moisture out of your skin, and the best way to put it back? Drink some water
We noticed that when we kept water nearby (especially something easy to grab in the car or take with us on errands), we felt a little more awake, a little less foggy, and just slightly more like ourselves. And sure, we're biased, but the Mesa Loop? It's absolutely perfect for this. It's leakproof, it can go anywhere, and the completely closed lip means we aren't taking germs with us too. Hydration made easy, made with busy moms in mind.
Letting the quiet moments count
We found when we created time to have a warm drink before anyone else wakes up, or taking a few minutes in the car before going inside after a long day or just taking a deep breath after all the kids are tucked in bed and the house finally settles, we found a little peace just for us.
And those moments matter, even if they’re brief.
Remembering that this season passes
Winter has a way of convincing you that this is how things will always feel: busy, cold, exhausting, never-ending.
But it isn’t forever. The days will get longer. The schedules will ease. And in the meantime, it’s okay to move slowly. It’s okay to take care of yourself in small ways.
Mommas. you’re doing more than you think you are. You’re showing up.
That counts for so much more than you are giving yourself credit for. And we’re right here with you.
